Last week I photographed pupils for the Yearbook from elementary school.
It was the 4th class of the Moscow school. I was tasked to do portraits of pupils for the book, group photo, portraits of teachers, to cover by reportage a “life of class” for a few lessons and not to refuse children if they ask to take their picture with friends :))) The last one could not be tasked, because I almost never refuse children :)))
Also I was very requested to pay equal “photographer’s attention” to every pupil, and do not photograph someone more, and someone less… Standard request from parents of schoolchildren to the photographer :))) I Understand that it may happen that some of kids can be in the frame more often and some less. It’s not always a matter of “tastes” of the photographer.
There are two main difficulties when taking photos of a school class.
The first difficulty is hardness to quickly (immediately) remember up to 30 new faces. It just can be forgotten “who already in, who else is still out”… A teacher can help in such case who will call to the blackboard or ask and rise at place EACH pupil. Then everybody will be in the picture :)))
The second difficulty is the reluctance of children to be photographed. Very often it happens that the child (known only to him reasons) just “sabotages” photoset… In every class there is always at least one such pupil. It is very difficult with such children….
There are quite a lot of photos in a result of this photoset. I will not upload all photos and will post just examples to be able to refer to them in future if some of my client have any questions about photographing pupils for the Yearbook.
So, part one – the pupils’ portraits at the blackboard.
